Sundays are, without question, the best day of the week on St. John. With more places of worship than restaurants, St. John is a blessed and peaceful place on Sunday mornings. Church bells in Cruz Bay and Coral Bay can be heard at 9am, a peaceful tone that warms the island with every note.
While employees of grocery stores, restaurants, car rental agencies and villa management companies call it a work day, Sunday for most of the island is the day you do what you want. Aptly named Sunday Funday, you’ll see local St. Johnians hiking in the National Park, relaxing in the water, snorkeling the mangroves, or (ideally) hanging on a boat headed to Jost Van Dyke for the day.
